Sea, air, rail or express: choosing freight without guessing
A straightforward comparison of cost, transit time and risk for shipments leaving China, and when each mode genuinely makes sense.

Freight choice is a trade between cash and time, and the right answer changes with the value density of your goods.
Sea freight is the default for bulky, low-value cargo. It is the cheapest per kilogram and the slowest, and it rewards planning — consolidating several suppliers into one container often saves more than negotiating the unit price.
Air freight suits high-value, low-weight goods and restocks that cannot wait. Rail is a genuine middle ground for European destinations. Express is for samples, urgent replacements and very small first orders.
Whichever mode you pick, agree the Incoterm in writing. Most disputes we see are not about freight cost at all — they are about who was responsible for a step that nobody named.
